What is the Phoenix Youth Leadership Training?

The Phoenix Youth Leadership Training Course is a Skills Training Course, that forms part of a three-tiered structured programme.  It provides young people with a life-changing experience, and empowers and supports them as they learn new skills, to overcome obstacles, build confidence and resilience.  

Understanding the Programme Levels

There are three progressive levels to the Phoenix Youth Leadership Training Program. 

  • Bronze Award (2 levels)
  • Silver Award
  • Gold Award 
  • An Accredited Certificate of Completion is given on completion of each stage.
  • Training is available to all young people, 12 to 17 years of aged

Each level  involves leadership training,  taking part in a volunteering/helping activity in the community, Goal-setting and implementing, developing new skills, planning and making a presentation.  For Gold level only, it involves combining theory with practice, such as attending team-building retreats, working on a project, and Public Speaking, to be completed and verified by Assessors. 

Aims & Objectives

The main aim of the Phoenix Youth Leadership Training Course is to:

  • Help young people build life-long belief in themselves
  • Supporting teens as they take on challenges, and discover their new talents
  • Aimed at developing life-long skills
  • Give teens an opportunity to have fun with friends, whilst learning new interests.  

How/Where Can this be Used?

  • Through the Phoenix Youth Leadership programme, young people can gain essential skills and attributes for work and life; such as resilience, problem-solving, team-working, communication and drive.
  • Enhances CVs, as well as University and Job applications, which ultimately promotes life-long success. 
  • The Phoenix Youth Leadership Training Course is a respectable mark of achievement.  As an Accredited course, it is designed to help young people develop leadership skills, in preparation for leading roles in their personal lives,  local communities/countries.
  • From a practical point of view, our structured Youth Leadership Course is designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practice, ensuring students not only learn about leadership, but also practice and reflect on their skills throughout the duration of the course, in order to implement them in their futures.

Phoenix Young Leadership Training Programmes - Ages: 12–17

Young Leader Award - BRONZE LEVEL

Foundations of Leadership

Ages: 12-13
Duration: 12 weeks
Focus: Self-awareness, communication, teamwork, confidence building

Learning Goals

  • Understand personal strengths & values
  • Develop essential communication skills
  • Build teamwork and collaboration abilities
  • Gain early experience in community involvement
  • Learn the basics of project planning

Core Modules

  1. Introduction to Leadership
  2. Goal Setting
  3. Basic Communication & Public Speaking
  4. Team Building
  5. Community Volunteering (5–10 hours)
  6. Planning & Presenting a Mini Project

Bronze Achievement Task

  • Deliver a 5-minute presentation on a personal or community topic
  • Complete 10 hours of volunteering
  • Complete a team project and written reflection

Young Leader Award - SILVER LEVEL

Emerging Leaders

Ages: 14-15
Duration: 12 weeks
Focus: Community action, critical thinking, public engagement, structured leadership tasks

Learning Goals

  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Build confidence speaking to adults & organisations
  • Engage in larger-scale community projects
  • Start demonstrating leadership roles in group tasks

Core Modules

  1. Advanced Communication & Public Speaking
  2. Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving
  3. Project Planning & Management
  4. Community Action Project (20 hours) Visits to Organisations
  5. Volunteering & Mentoring (additional 10+ hours)

Silver Achievement Task

  • Lead a section of the community project
  • Deliver a 7–10-minute persuasive speech
  • Document work in a Leadership Portfolio

Young Leader Award - GOLD LEVEL

Young Community Leaders

Ages: 16 – 17
Duration: 12 weeks
Focus: Advocacy, leadership in action, formal presentations, career preparation, equality & diversity leadership

Learning Goals

  • Develop skills to become a youth advocate
  • Lead teams independently
  • Engage with professional organisations
  • Prepare for future roles (work experience, apprenticeships)

Core Modules

  1. Leadership in Society
  2. Advocacy for Equality & Diversity
  3. Community Leadership Project (30+ hours)
  4. Speech Contest
  5. Career & Apprenticeship Preparation
  6. Work Experience (20–40 hours) Organisational Visits & Leadership Masterclasses

Gold Achievement Task

  • Lead a full independent advocacy or community project
  • Complete 30+ hours volunteering/work experience
  • Present a 10-minute keynote speech at the final Celebration Event
  • Submit a Leadership & Advocacy Portfolio

Programme Completion:- Young Leader Certificates

On completing all three tiers, participants earn:

  • Young Leader Bronze, Silver & Gold certificates
  • A digital or printed Leadership Portfolio
  • Eligibility to become Youth Ambassadors for the programme
